“Oberon, Titania and Puck with Fairies Dancing” by William Blake (1786)

Would I to adorn the Spring’s sunny air

A lover whom at first glimpse thought was fair;

Gift to my eye the first crown of Nature:

A walking spirit to share a bright future.

Could we then, with coupled hands, stroll the lush,

Like robins sharing songs under the bush,

Or hold calm conversation by a tree

Who guards us from the heat, and lets peace be.

Then, late at night, with bodies expired,

We’ll recollect warm on all that transpired,

And tap our lips together, out of sight,

Hushed under willows, by firefly light;

And the Moon gently closes her black lid,

To blind herself of the deeds best left hid.
